VERTEX is currently engaged in providing structural engineering design services for this new Resort Hotel in Cayo Largo, Puerto Rico. The resort site consists of 136 guest rooms configured in two- and four-unit villa-style buildings, each with private gardens and several with private plunge pools. Other features of the resort include a Banquet Hall, a 5-star Spa, and Fitness Center, a kids- and teen-center, a meeting and event space, and multiple restaurants.

VERTEX designed the buildings using cast-in-place concrete to provide robust structures in the hurricane-prone area on Puerto Rico’s East Coast. The site contained an additional challenge, being located in a high seismic zone. VERTEX’s work portfolio of design and forensic projects in high-seismic zones throughout the United States was called upon to provide a cost-effective solution for the structural design.

VERTEX’s past experience with RAL Development Services along with their extensive experience with resort hotels and expertise in concrete design was key in being selected to serve as the structural engineer of record for the project.
