Undisclosed Air Force Base

VERTEX was retained as a consultant to assist a design-builder in a claim against the Government related to design/scope changes and delay damages. The Project required the design and construction of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) on a U.S. Air Force Base, including approximately 10,000 square feet of gut-renovations, a new 2,000-square-foot addition, and new outdoor mechanical yards. The electrical and HVAC systems included new Chillers, Air-Handling Units, 800 KW generator, and fuel tank; new transformers and panelboards; Power Distribution Units, UPS systems, Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems (ACS / IDS); Energy Management Control System; Hot-Aisle Containment; and various other equipment and components. VERTEX reviewed the original scope of work requirements against changes to the complex systems during the design process to identify changed scope, associated costs, and impacts to the schedule. Based on the Request for Equitable Adjustment (REA) prepared by VERTEX and the Contractor, the Government awarded a multi-million-dollar Contract Modification.
